Wildflowers
I fell in love with her the exact moment I saw her.
Walking down the brick-laid sidewalk, she was beautiful, wild,
and free.
Then she turned, and ran into my arms,
grabbing me with a force of passion
I hadn't felt in ten years.
Ten long years.
A decade of pain,
a decade of loneliness,
a decade of quiet reflections on a missed opportunity.
But somehow, she found her way back,
I am going to hold on.
I am never going to let her wild spirit go.
Because wildflowers can grow anywhere.
Even in the places you thought were completely dead.
